HAND-TO-HAND FIGHTING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
About the event
On December 16, Hand-to-Hand Fighting World Championship in the Absolute Weight Category, organized by Moscow City Department of Sport, took place at Irina Viner-Usmanova Gymnastics Palace.
Athletes from 21 countries took part in the tournament. The titles of world champions were played among men in the discipline «Fight» in two absolute weight categories — up to 73 kg and over 73 kg.
In the weight category up to 73 kg, the gold medal was won by Olim Normurodov from Uzbekistan, who defeated his compatriot Asadbek Khikmatov in the final. The bronze medalists of World Championship were Russian Dzhoshgun Mansimov and Oleg Salagaev from South Osetia.
In the weight category over 73 kg, the victory was won by Ilyos Kamilov from Uzbekistan, who defeated his compatriot Ogabek Jumaniyozov in the final match. Third place was taken by Russians Mikhail Isaenko and Ubaydula Tagirov.
As part of the competition, an official opening ceremony was also held, at which President of Hand-to-hand Fighting Sport International Federation Sergey Astakhov gave start to the final part of the tournament. In addition, there was a spectacular show program with the participation of aerialists and the cheerleaders «Dynamite». The hosts of the evening were Alla Omelyuta and Dmitry Rubin.
Discipline
Competitions will be held in the discipline «Fight», which involves full-contact fights using punches and kicks, various throws, painful and submission holds.
